Boston University PROJECT MANAGER, School of Public Health, Epidemiology in BOSTON, Massachusetts
The Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the implementation and pursuit of NIH grants related to data-intensive aging research. The candidate will have expertise in issues surrounding aging, especially Alzheimer's and dementia risk. The candidate will have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, utilize time and resources efficiently, and establish priorities. They will lead regular study team meetings, document study progress and milestones, and represent the study to internal and external staff. The candidate will also assist with supporting investigators across sites (i.e. Boston, San Francisco, Portland, Los Angeles), including highlighting selected scientific findings, assisting with organizing events such as paper sprints or hackathons, web site maintenance, and development and support of educational initiatives. They will oversee the Project Coordinator and the Mentoring Manager and will work closely with the MPI team to ensure the success of the grant.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Manage project timelines and quality: Oversee the entire research development and funding process, ensuring timely completion and high-quality results while addressing the needs of the research team and clients.
Support and lead teams: Provide guidance, feedback, and task delegation to co-investigators, while organizing meetings and managing cross-organizational collaboration.
Administrative and financial oversight: Support hiring, onboarding, and budget revisions while providing general administrative support such as organizing meetings, document editing, and manuscript submissions.
Coordinate communication and meetings: Serve as the main point of contact for investigators and external organizations, coordinating communications, setting up meetings, and providing project updates.
Track and report progress: Participate in regular consultations, track action items, update investigators, and create briefings to report on project status and potential delays.
Ensure compliance with requirements: Review and monitor all grant materials to ensure adherence to funder guidelines, managing templates, narratives, and other application documents.
Required Skills
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
Experience in an academic research environment using complex secondary data analysis
Experience in epidemiology or clinical research using secondary data
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Epidemiology or related field
Strong planning, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Outstanding customer service and diplomacy skills when interacting with clients
Ability to work collaboratively with team members in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
Highly organized with superior attention to detail and excellent follow up
Results driven and effective time management by prioritizing tasks, and managing competing priorities
Applies new skills and concepts quickly and displays a willingness to learn and improve
