How will you make an impact?

Project managers are responsible for planning and leading all aspects of projects to ensure they are completed in a timely fashion and within budget. Project managers plan and designate project resources, prepare budgets, supervise progress, and keep collaborators informed the entire way.

How will you get here?

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) preferred

  • 5-8 years industry experience required

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification highly desirable

  • Experience in laboratory or clinical environments required

  • Strong collaborative track record, which includes working within a matrix environment along with the ability to find solutions to a common goal

  • Advanced PC skills, especially in Microsoft Office and project management products preferred

What will you do?

  • Build project implementation estimates as key input to Commercial team during sales process

  • Interpret contracts and expectations relevant to project implementation with general commercial terms

  • Own project management lifecycle, including: initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, closeout phases and financial reporting

  • Lead day to day operational aspects of a project and scope including project change management, risk management and mitigation, and communication providing project updates on a consistent basis to various customers about strategy, adjustments, and progress

  • Be accountable to project budget, including budget vs. actual performance, communication and mitigation of project overruns to internal and external team members as required

  • Run customer billing records as appropriate considering executed contracts

  • Set and manage client expectations following transition from Commercial team, until project closeout and transition to Field Operations

  • Measure project performance to identify areas for improvement

  • Assist with the development and refinement of tools to support all phases of the Implementation Process

  • Communicate and understand the processes of departments associated with the delivery of services within the Unity Lab Services suite of services

  • Participate with ULS/Fisher Scientific Channel Commercial and /or Solution Development teams in client meetings to present and discuss all aspects of the Implementation Process

  • Perform data analysis of field data collection efforts to ensure data accuracy and completeness

  • Develop client facing documentation using a variety of software programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project, Word, Publisher, and Access)

  • Remain on the forefront of emerging project management standards and industry practices

  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Possess the leadership skills be able to lead teams along with excellent social skills to relate well to employees, various levels of the customer business and peers.

  • Customer orientation to develop customer relationships

  • Advanced written and presentation skills to clearly express all ideas, share technical information, communicate well with customers and all levels of the organization, write procedures and develop plans

  • Analytical and critical thinking ability to be able to evaluate, interpret information and procedures, to make timely decisions while functioning in a fast-paced, changing work environment

  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and/or Workfront

  • Work primarily at remote locations; home office

  • May be required to work independently at customer location

  • Extensive walking may be required

  • May pass through areas where chemical based allergens may be in use (such as penicillin, tetracycline, etc.

  • Must be able to lift, push and pull 30-40lbs consistently; may be required to lift 50lbs

  • May be able to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks

  • Depending on area of building, personal protective equipment may be worn to include lab coats, coveralls, hood, facemask, hairnets and/or safety gloves. Some areas require steel toe shoes, bump hats and/or safety glasses

  • Must be able to work hours required to get the job done
