Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The incumbent is located at a primary point of contact for the general public for the Library and the Museum. Incumbent is a visitor services member responsible for providing on-site visitors with information and answers to questions using an in-depth knowledge of Museum resources. Responsibilities As a PUBLIC AFFAIRS IINFORMATION ASSISTANT, you will: Perform lead duties and a variety of clerical/assistant support duties related to serving the public Prepare the visitor services and information desk, theater lobby and museum area for general visitor programs, tour groups and other daily reservations Be responsible for regulating traffic flow, managing crowds, and overseeing day-to-day visitor flow issues related to Museum admissions Operates computers, visitation management software, fax machines, telephones, and other office-type equipment to serve the public, input statistical information and otherwise provide customer service Collect, remit, and account for fees in accordance with established guidelines for handling government funds Requirements Conditions of Employment If you do not meet any of the categories listed above, you may wish to apply under announcement DE-12658543-25-LD, which is open for any U.S. citizen to apply. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. The work is performed while standing, sitting and walking, with occasional bending, reaching and lifting or carrying of heavy materials, such as boxes of brochures and papers. Specialized Experience For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: For the GS-05, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes: Greeting visitors or customers in a professional setting, such as; an office, information desk, admissions desk, theater, or lobby AND Using Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable (as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F): Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment. Education Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
