State of Massachusetts Public Records Reviewer in Boston, Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources' (MDAR) mission is to help keep the Massachusetts’ food supply safe and secure, and to work to keep Massachusetts agriculture economically and environmentally sound.

The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is accepting resumes and applications for the position of Public Records Reviewer (contract position). This position is assigned to the Legal Office for the Department of Agricultural Resources. This position is estimated to begin in February, 2020 and will be for approximately 975 hours. There are no benefits associated with this position with the exception of earned sick leave.

The Legal Office supports the Commissioner and the Department’s various programs and represents the Department in court and in administrative proceedings. The Public Records Reviewer (Contractor position) is critical to providing legal support for the Department. Specifically, the Public Records Reviewer will provide support to our Records Access Officer (RAO) and secondary RAO by coordinating public records request responses and assisting with other administrative and records retention matters. This position will be responsible for working with the General Counsel and RAOs to respond to Public Records Requests, and will coordinate with the various divisions of the Department as directed by the General Counsel.

As a member of the MDAR Legal Office:

Assists with statutory and processing tasks related to public records requests in accordance with Massachusetts Public Records Law.

Interacts and communications with Legal staff and various individuals across the Department, including requests for relevant information and follow up to ensure timely fulfillment of requests.

Analyzes and reviews documents and other administrative responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of relevant experience (e.g. public records or document production in the context of legal proceedings); or

Associate's degree, three (3) year of relevant experience (e.g. public records or document production in the context of legal proceedings); or

Five years of relevant experience (e.g. public records or document production in the context of legal proceedings).

Paralegal experience preferred.
