REAL ESTATE PARALEGAL
TRIAL DIVISION/ABANDONED HOUSING INITIATIVE
The Attorney General's Office is looking for a real estate paralegal to assist our Abandoned Housing Initiative. The Abandoned Housing Initiative (AHI) seeks to partner with municipalities across the Commonwealth to systematically and efficiently address community blight.
Primary Duties: Provide title research and investigative support relating to properties referred to AHI for potential legal action. The Paralegal will be responsible for conducting title searches on properties across the Commonwealth and creating clear reports synthesizing the title information. The Paralegal will also be responsible for tracking title requests across AHI and identifying possible trends in the available data. The Paralegal will be responsible for administrative and clerical duties, including the opening of cases in the case management system, some typing and filing, and other duties that may be assigned as required.
Position Type: Full-time/Non-Exempt
Salary: High 30’s

Abandoned Housing Initiative
Demonstrated abilities and experience doing title research and property investigations, on-line and in the field, are required. Must be able to identify, search, and analyze land records relating to title of real property and incorporate searches of relevant building and zoning departments, municipal records, probate and land courts, and tax departments. Applicants should be able to analyze complex issues from multiple angles in order to identify individuals with potential legal interests in target properties. A minimum of three years of full-time experience as a real estate paralegal or legal assistant is preferred. Applicants should have effective writing, research, and communication skills. The Paralegal should demonstrate the ability to be self-directed and to work well in a team setting with attorneys and members of the community. Because this position may require travel, a valid driver’s license is required.
