We are one of Boston's oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations and we are currently seeking a Research and Evaluation Specialist.
The Research and Evaluation Specialist owns project management and performs independent projects, as well as manages some administrative duties and general support for the Research, Evaluation, and Measurement team. Specifically in this role, the Specialist will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and implementing various evaluation projects and activities. This includes, but is not limited to, owning the full cycle process for surveys from design through to data analysis and presentation and the execution of the grant-reporting process. The position requires a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in interactions with staff, outside agencies and volunteer leadership.
Essential Functions:
- Survey and Data Management Design and manage the development of questionnaires and surveys Manage all aspects of online survey projects, including coding surveys with advanced logic into Qualtrics (CJP’s preferred survey management tool) and monitoring responses Produce preliminary analysis and reports for CJP’s online surveys Lead tracking of evaluation reports/data collection from grantees and provide regular updates and recommendations to department colleagues regarding grantees’ reports and outcomes
Grant Reporting
In partnership with other members of the Research, Evaluation, and Measurement team, manage all aspects of the reporting process for CJP grantees. This includes ensuring compliance with grant requirements and deliverables, tracking and sharing all pieces of the process with relevant stakeholders, and producing comprehensive summaries.
Represent CJP and liaise with community partners and grantees on grant requirements and expectations.
Assist in the development, refinement, and implementation of strategic plans and outcomes evaluation for department priorities, ensuring integration with the coordination and management of grant reporting functions for CJP grantees.
Administrative Support for the AVP and the Research team
Design and create tools for department colleagues (e.g., workbooks and templates) to be used for strategy planning and goal-setting
Develop and implement high-quality tools on research and evaluation projects for internal and external audiences.
Produce research summaries, briefs, literature reviews, and/or memoranda
Provides administrative support to the AVP, Research and Evaluation and the team. This support will include scheduling and meeting assistance, coordination across other teams and departments, data collection/analysis, external reporting, event assistance, and coordination of invoices.

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience:
- 2-3 years of research or experience or equivalent, with experience performing independent projects and administrative duties
Skills/Competencies:
Experience in survey development and design
Proficiency in survey platform(s) (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey)
Ability to analyze data, using Excel and data visualizations tools, including, but not limited to, pivot tables, frequency tables, and descriptives
Designs PowerPoint presentations and materials
Proficiency in data storytelling
Proficiency with building data visualizations in Power BI
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Familiarity working with database systems
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Effective interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills
Aptitude for detail and commitment to accuracy and follow through
Ability to author, accurately edit, and proofread documents and correspondence
Ability to work on independent projects, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to respond resourcefully under varying conditions
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Organizational Relationships/Scope:
Reports to AVP, Research and Evaluation and works closely with Director, Research and Evaluation, and other members of Strategy and Impact with direction and oversight from the AVP.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in office work is required; Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays remote work option applies.
Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods, much of which will be working at a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
