This position is co-hired by Dr. Christopher Walsh’s Lab and Dr. August Yue Huang’s Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital. Our research is focused on the elucidation of fundamental roles of somatic mutation in development, aging, and disease processes of human brain, by using various cutting-edge sequencing technologies. This position will focus on the identification and analysis of somatic mutations associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.
This Research Assistant I will be responsible for:
Working with graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and staff members on research projects.
Using and understanding a wide variety of molecular biology protocols.
Analyzing data.
Extracting DNA, RNA, and proteins from blood and tissue samples.
Quantifying and distributing DNA samples.
Maintaining equipment.
Performing general lab maintenance.
In order to qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree in Biology or related field
Experience working in a molecular biology lab
Good problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to make a 2-year commitment to the position
