Perform a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment and recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.
Assist in troubleshooting procedures if experimental results are unexpected or the quality of specimens is poor.
Maintain records of results and methodologies in a log of work performed.
Maintain equipment, lab area, and supplies neat and professionally.
Sterilize and clean glassware and prepare media and other materials using appropriate procedures.
Inventory supplies and mixes of standard reagents.
Process orders for supplies and animals.
Attend courses in safety procedures for handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous, flammable, corrosive, and toxic materials.
Carry out all laboratory activities in compliance with applicable regulations and protocols.
Conduct literature searches and reviews, compile information for journals, and suggest uses for new techniques to the P.I.
Attend courses, lectures, and conferences and consult with other researchers and technicians to exchange information.
Contributes to the team within and between departments and organizations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences other than Medicine, Cell Biology preferred area of study
Analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles
Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
Open to the possibility of a multi-year position, given the substantial training required
