57196BRTitle:Research Imaging TechDepartment:RadiologyAutoReqId:57196BRStatus:Full-TimeStandard Hours per Week:40 Job Category:RadiologyJob Posting Description:The purpose of this position is to support and enhance the research of scientists at the Two Brookline Place MRI facility by providing outstanding research imaging capabilities.

This Research Imaging Tech will be responsible for:

  • Examinations

  • Perform human and nonhuman research exams in the MRI environment

  • Perform MRI or other imaging safety screening of all research personnel and participants

  • Collect and transfer MRI raw data from the console

  • Perform off-line reconstruction.

  • Operate and facilitate all research MRI equipment including physiological data equipment, fMRI equipment, and patient motion tracking equipment such as Nordic Neuro Lab and BIOPAC

  • Identify research subjects according to Hospital Policy with 2 identifiers

  • Select appropriate equipment and technical parameters to achieve research objectives

  • Practice High Reliability Training

  • Select appropriate sequences per participants needs

  • Properly obtain informed consent from participants

  • Ensure study protocol is properly executed

  • Judge appropriate image quality as images are acquired and adjust sequences to achieve research goals

  • Ensure adherence to all safety practices determined by the MRI Safety Committee

  • Maintain compliance with IRB policies, and follows research protocols approved by the IRB

  • Comply with all operational policies promulgated by the Research Imaging Advisory Committee, Department of Radiology, Hospital, and Joint Commission guidelines

  • Consistently provide exceptional care and exceptional service

  • Participant/Family Relations

  • Function as a liaison between the core facility, researchers, and participants

  • Understand and provide behavioral accommodations for pediatric participants

  • Operations

  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions to the chief research technologist

  • Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operations such as daily quality assurance testing

  • Professional Development

  • Complete all required competencies and documentation accurately and in a timely manner

  • Maintain up-to-date licensure/certification/registration with the chief research technologist

  • Further professional education and maintains knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies and procedures.

  • Train credentialed users in the operation of the imaging equipment and research core policies including MRI safety training.

  • Maintain CITI certification for research procedures.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Biology/Chemistry/Allied Health/Computer Sciences

  • BLS and CITI certification required

  • Radiologic Technologist license for MRI preferred

  • Subject-matter knowledge

  • Knowledgeable in operating MRI equipment, physiological data equipment, fMRI equipment, and patient motion tracking equipment such as Nordic Neuro Lab and BIOPAC.

  • Knowledgeable in positioning techniques for MRI.

  • Knowledge of proper MRI coil usage and storage.

  • Knowledgeable of MRI safety, cleanliness, and Infection control policies and regulations.

  • Supports openness to new ideas and change.

  • Takes initiative to resolve issues.

  • Systems skills

  • Fluent in Siemens software, platform VE11C preferred.

  • Proficient in all Radiology applications: i.e., Citrix, Radnet, PowerChart, Radstar, Radboard, iLAB, and commonly used computer programs.

During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
