Boston University RESEARCH STUDY TECHNICIAN, School of Medicine, Amyloidosis Center in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The Amyloidosis Center Gerry Reference Laboratory at Boston University School of Medicine is presently looking for a full-time laboratory research technician to perform routine isoelectric focusing (IEF) of serum proteins and targeted gene mutation testing as part of our CLIA-approved amyloidosis testing services. In addition, the candidate will provide biochemical support ft projects that are ongoing. Ideally candidates for this position will hold an undergraduate degree with a major concentration in science, preferably biochemistry, biology or chemistry. In addition to IEF and PCR, responsibilities will include purification of amyloid proteins from a variety of clinically and recombinantly-derived sources using FPLC and HPLC, and analysis of isolated proteins using SDS-PAGE, Western blotting and immunochemical methods. Also familiarity with protein concentration assays, dialysis, lyophilization, and filtration methods would be advantageous. This position is grant funded.

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree required with 1-3 years of experience. Computer skills using Microsoft Office (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) are necessary. We are also looking for someone with good communication skills written as well as verbal. Candidates must also possess excellent organization skills, the ability to work as a member of the team in an independent environment and a good work ethic.
