Scientist – In Vitro Neurobiology
The Neuroscience team at Eli Lilly is seeking an innovative and motivated Principal Scientist, with deep experience in cellular and molecular neurobiology, to contribute to the design and development of cell-based assays for target validation, compound characterization, and probing disease mechanisms. A successful candidate will work independently and cross-functionally with various teams to perform benchwork that supports discovery efforts and contribute to IND-enabling studies. The scope of work includes the design, execution, and analysis of in vitro and ex vivo experiments using human iPSC-derived cell models and rodent primary culture. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, creative, and organized, with a desire to succeed at the highest level in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Execute in vitro and ex vivo pharmacology evaluation for new targets and technologies relevant for synaptic plasticity, including neuronal cell culture, morphology analysis of dendrites and spines, and various molecular readouts such as immunofluorescence, calcium imaging/FLIPR, high-content confocal imaging, and multielectrode array.
Evaluate target and technology feasibility, and compound efficacy in iPSC-derived cell models and primary culture, including assay development and optimization.
Analyze, interpret, and present data, with the ability to clearly communicate results in written and oral formats; may need to incorporate data from other members in the Research team to interpret data.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of activities through meticulous lab notebook practices and contributions to reports.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and external groups to coordinate and drive complex studies.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in neuroscience, cellular/molecular biology, genetics, or related scientific field with 2+ years of relevant biotech, pharmaceutical, or academic work experience.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Experience with human iPSC co-culture system, CRISPR gene editing, viral vector use, and high-content imaging instruments
Demonstrated ability to function as a member of an interdisciplinary team and contribute within a highly collaborative environment
Exceptionally creative, organized, and detail-oriented
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to thoroughly document, interpret, and effectively present scientific data to other scientists and non-scientists
Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$69,000 - $179,300
