We deliver internal security services that support Amazon businesses including Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Twitch, Whole Foods, Kuiper, and many more. We deliver and secure Amazon's internal tooling for identity management, permissions management, access control, authorization, and authentication. Our security engineers contribute to company-wide initiatives that ensure a strong security foundation.

Key job responsibilities

We are looking for security engineers from diverse backgrounds, who are creative problem solvers, and passionate about delivering security solutions at scale. Our programs, controls, and services underpin many cloud technologies, so we carefully consider our technology decisions, dependency trees, and architectures to ensure that the company’s critical services can depend on us. In this role, you’ll be building controls and securing software for internal security systems at Amazon. We believe that user experience is a key factor in security outcomes, and we are working to transform security user experiences. You’ll apply your creative problem-solving skills to develop simple and elegant security features that solve our customers’ biggest challenges.

Our ideal candidate will have: Experience driving security improvements in a large organization. A data-driven and quantitative mentality; an ability to support ideas with evidence. Experience with agile development, DevOps, or similar methodologies for CI/CD and the common software that enable them.

Experience with AWS or similar enterprise cloud computing platforms. Experience with full-stack (Linux / Unix) software architectures from UI to infrastructure. Experience with reverse engineering or vulnerability research. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years' experience in software security.

  • Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or similar field or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Passion for Internet security issues and the threat landscape for popular software and services.

  • Solid understanding of source code, what vulnerable code looks like, and how to fix it.

  • Knowledge of programming languages (including syntax, semantics, compilers, type checking), especially in a security context.

  • Experience with authentication and access control infrastructure

  • Understanding of web application security issues like XSS, CSRF, and SSRF.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $135,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
