State of Massachusetts Security Team Specialist I in Boston, Massachusetts
The Metro Boston Area Department of Mental Health (DMH) is currently hiring for the position of Security Team Specialist. Duties and Responsibilities /(these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive)/: - Patrols all buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas of the hospital at regular intervals and guards against trespass, theft, fire, and damage to property. - Maintains order among visitors and staff; maintains motor vehicle traffic controls on hospital grounds including parking, speeding and other traffic conditions and takes necessary measures to prevent unauthorized use of hospital roads and parking facilities. - Performs security duties such as screening visitors, directing traffic, and enforcing parking controls - Provides personal protection to individuals as required including but not limited to, searching for missing goods and persons, conducting surveillance, and investigating complaints and reports of suspicious activities. - Assists with providing custodial supervision of medically ill and mental health clients, and escorts them to various appointments. - Coordinates the maintenance of hospital firefighting equipment, alarm systems and other safeguards, reports defects and request repairs in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and requirements. - Monitors hospital switchboard, gauges, and alarm indicator panels; takes necessary action in event of malfunction or alarm, including system resets. - Prepares reports on investigations conducted and noteworthy incidents during tour of duty. - Preserves crime scenes and fire sites, performs searches and inspections, serves court summons to patients or staff, and performs job related duties for safety and security as necessary and as directed. Required Qualifications: * - Ability to deal tactfully with others and interact with individuals who are under physical and/or emotional stress. - Ability to maintain a calm manner in stressful and emergency situations. - Capacity to make decisions and acting quickly in dangerous or emergency situations. - Capacity to exercise discretion in handling confidential information. - Demonstrated ability to gather information through questioning individuals, conducting interviews, and gathering information by examining records and documents. - Ability to lift heavy objects or persons *Preferred Qualifications: * - Prior health care facility security experience or law enforcement. - CPR Certified, First Responder and NARCAN trained. - Ability to solve problems and relate to hospital staff, constituents, and other community members in a positive and professional manner. - Talent for recognizing the cultural diversity of the campus community and ensure sensitive and equitable treatment of all who work and visit the campus. - Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. * Please Note:This position is 40 hours per week, working the third shift (11:00 pm – 7:00 am).
