The Opportunity and Who You’ll Work With:

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 09:00PM-05:00PM ET, 40 hours per week
The Finance & Accounting team at WBUR is comprised of five dedicated professionals who play a crucial role in managing our financial operations. Together, this team ensures the fiscal health and transparency of our organization, supporting our mission of delivering high-quality journalism.
As Senior Financial Analyst, you will be a crucial member of our team, responsible for all parts of the financial planning and analysis process, including the preparation, analysis, and reporting of budgeted, forecasted, and actual results for both revenue and expense. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, you will be expected to have significant expertise with current financial technologies including but not limited to SAP and Microsoft Excel as well as some familiarity with data analysis tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
You will be a subject matter expert and will provide senior leadership with a financial perspective based on analysis of complex financial information. You will provide guidance and mentorship to more junior staff and champion efforts to enhance process improvements and efficiencies.
(30%) Aid in the development, budgeting, and forecasting processes that provide senior leadership and the Board of Directors with information to support and illustrate outcomes of business strategies and decisions. Recommend to the Sr. Director of Finance and Administration and Chief Operating Officer, capital investment, policies, and guidelines needed to execute the operating plans of WBUR and support financial growth and success.
(25%) Evaluate monthly financial information to assess the validity of forecasts. Develop and deliver more complex standard and ad-hoc financial analysis to help improve forecasting and budgeting, in an effort to deliver on strategic initiatives. Provide leadership with a more complex and holistic financial perspective.
(20%) Responsible for monitoring and reconciling various WBUR budgets for special projects to help ensure expense and income are properly accounted for and apportioned to appropriate departments. Perform and review monthly reconciliations as well as aid in annual budgeting and closing process. Aid in annual station audit.
(10%) Champion and enhance organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management. Identify, recommend, and lead process improvements that significantly reduce workloads and/or improve accuracy and quality of work.
(10%) Serve as a resource to team members and applicable internal/external collaborators on more complex assignments/projects. Advise and provide subject matter expertise to project managers, department heads, and applicable collaborators on key financial analytics and expense trends.
(5%) Maintain knowledge of current and emerging trends related to industry trends, assess impact, and collaborate with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions. As requested, attend Finance Committee Meetings and other board, committee meetings. Prepare board materials as needed and report on finances activities.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent/relevant experience
Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
