Nuance Senior Monitoring DevOps Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts
Nuance operates a 24x7 Site Reliability Center (SRC) which monitors the Hosted solution provided to our customers. The Hosted Monitoring team works closely with the SRC, Systems Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Engineering, and R&D teams to ensure complete monitoring coverage of all Nuance Hosted services and systems.
This position will be primarily responsible for ensuring good monitoring coverage of Hosted products, specifically those hosted in Azure.gov environments.
Principal duties and responsibilities
Coordinate with partners in R&D, Operations, and SRC teams to ensure Monitoring systems meet product and customer needs
Design and implement state of the art system and customer experience monitoring solutions
Develop and maintain Terraform templates
Design and develop automation to achieve self-healing systems
Provide rotating oncall support
Drive internal improvements and projects
Knowledge, skills and qualifications
Education: BA or BS Preferred or five plus years of equivalent work experience
Minimum years of work experience: 3
Ability to get and maintain Public Trust level clearance with the United States Government. US Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.
Ability to critically review new product offerings and collaboratively develop appropriate monitoring based on platform functions and features.
Strong analytical ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Expert in system monitoring and alerting for availability, reliability and performance.
Knowledge and understanding of industry trends and new technologies and ability to apply this to day-to-day work activities.
Knowledge of enterprise platforms and operating systems as well as knowledge of key business functions and processes.
Implementation and administration experience of enterprise solutions in public cloud environments (Azure)
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong experience leveraging automation to improve daily work-flows and tasks.
Demonstrate the ability to write new and troubleshoot existing scripts in languages such as Power Shell, Linux shell, Pearl, and Python.
Familiarity and experience with tools and services like SumoLogic and Azure Log Analytics
Familiarity and experience with Azure DevOps, ARM / Bicep templates, and DevOps deployment pipelines
Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities.
Ability to solve operational related challenges through automation or process related improvements.
Strong administrative experience with operating systems including Windows Server (2012 / 2016), Oracle RedHat Linux and CentOS.
Protocol Analysis, network performance analysis, network capacity planning, and network troubleshooting.
Familiarity and experience with monitoring tools such as Gomez, Websitepulse, or Pingdom.
