VMware Senior Program Manager, Customer Success - Opportunity for Working Remotely in Boston, Massachusetts

The VMware Customer Success team is looking for a Senior Program Manager who is obsessed with operational execution. The Program Manager will be responsible for leading a portfolio of projects across the Customer Success organization encompassing launch of new programs, refining existing processes, and/or driving change management and employee experience initiatives. The Program manager will support key priorities for the Customer Success Leadership team and work with teams within Customer Success and across VMWare ranging from delivery, operations, finance, and planning. Work will span managing large cross-functional programs and stakeholders, to driving / implementing specific activities for projects.


  • Manage strategic program and projects using standard PMP principals of scope, risk, communication, time and resource management

  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, schedules, dependencies, critical paths and other required project collateral.

  • Drive critical project management gates and phases to align with execution deliverables and dedication to outcomes

  • Lead project teams and organization resources to ensure collaboration across teams, programs and projects.

  • Clearly communicate project status and risk, anticipate blockers and formulate a plan to mitigate to working team

  • Providing clear, concise, transparent, project updates for executive audiences

  • Understand the Customer Success business and priorities to ensure programs and projects align and produce desired outcomes.

  • Create high-level project assets that can be used in leadership updates and presentations

  • Defining, establishing, and maintaining a consistent, traceable decision-making process across a heterogeneous landscape of stakeholders.

  • Gathering metrics, building reports and dashboards that detail program health including project execution, quality, and execution to plan.

  • Being a catalyst for change in the organization, leading with and without authority and handling nebulous and evolving change efforts.

  • Own and deliver specific activities for projects where expertise and capacity align

Required qualifications:

  • 8+ years’ large-scale projects in a distributed organization

  • PMP Certification or equivalent training/experience

  • Ability to build trust and collaboratively work with stakeholders of all levels, and drive influence

  • Clear and effective communication skills and ability to distill and convey information in a compelling manner

  • Strong organizational and program management skills to manage a wide range of incoming requests and responsibilities

  • Capable of understanding both technology and business

  • Self-starter who enjoys problem-solving with little direct supervision.

  • Ability to learn quickly with a high tolerance for ambiguity and complexity

  • Experience moving teams through tight deadlines and complex initiatives

  • Experience-based knowledge of Project Management methodologies and toolsets.

  • Effective data analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Must be biased towards action and possess a growth mindset
