Boston Public Schools Senior Project Manager, BuildBPS [ESSER Funded Position] (SY21-22) in Boston, Massachusetts

This vacancy is the result of temporary funding through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER). The duration of the funding means the position is temporary and may last for one, two, or three years. Hired candidates may be excessed or non-renewed from the position for the following school year. Job Description REPORTS TO: Director of Capital Planning RESPONSIBILITIES: On March 1st, 2017, Mayor Walsh announced the release of BuildBPS, a ten-year educational and facilities master plan for the Boston Public Schools. This $1B investment intends to begin the modernization of the Boston’s public school infrastructure as well as ensuring alignment between the number of students and the number of seats in a neighborhood. The BuildBPS Senior Project Manager will collaborate directly with a variety of members of district leadership including the Superintendent, Executive Cabinet, the BuildBPS Leadership Team, as well as their various deputies and other pertinent BPS and City of Boston staff. The Strategic Project Manager will help ensure BPS is able to equitably and effectively serve every student, helping to shape the future of the district and the City of Boston. Job Responsibilities: Supporting this team and this project could include, but will not be limited to, the following: Project management: ensuring assigned projects identified in the BuildBPS plan have a clear project plan, keeping track of key deadlines and performance, aligning stakeholders to that plan, providing any and all administrative tasks and delivering successfully according to that plan. Group Facilitation: develops the agenda for and manages BuildBPS meetings related to assigned projects. Drives groups to decisions. Effectively manages up across a set of senior leaders to ensure work progress and that the group meets project deadlines and goals. Communication: creates materials and briefs to communicate internally and externally about the work. Presents to various internal stakeholders, and as needed external partners and stakeholders. General support: perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the BuildBPS Leadership team, including the Office of the Chief of Staff, Chief Engagement Officer and the Deputy Chief Financial Officer. Analysis: performing analysis and assessment to inform the direction of the plan (could include operational, financial, enrollment, or academic data). Qualifications - Required: Bachelor's Degree required 3 years experience in a project management role including managing and coordinating senior leaders in the organization Ability to successfully navigate within varying degrees of ambiguity in a fast-paced environment Strong oral and written communication skills, particularly in creating easy-to-interpret, actionable reports, presentations, and findings Mastery of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Power Point, Word). Experience with project management templates or relevant software preferred Demonstrated ability to advise and negotiate comfortably with individuals at all levels. Excellent organizational and multitasking skills including the ability to prioritize competing demands Successful experience working in a team-oriented environment; experience interacting with multiple internal/external stakeholder groups Demonstrated experience creating and evaluating quantitative and qualitative reports and models. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment Ability to work independently entailing a high degree of responsibility, discretion and confidentiality; Capacity to identify and meet high-impact benchmarks within a long-ranging strategy; Qualifications - Preferred: Experience in a school district or other K12 public educational setting preferred Graduate degree in a related field TERMS: Managerial, C52.
