Job Description
We are looking for strong Linux systems engineers to join a team building a new container runtime that will host critical, high-performance OCI services.
As part of a larger, multi-team project, we are improving the platform for running Oracle Cloud services. This improved platform will allow us to improve operations, scaling, and developer experience. As part of the platform, we're building a new container runtime that will allow us to run the full variety of OCI services, including our most demanding, high-performance, high-availability services. We are looking for self-motivated engineers with passion and expertise in solving challenging system and performance problems. You should be a rock-solid developer able to dive deep into complex systems to understand them. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
With your superb technical, research and analytical capabilities and demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively to delight our customers, you will collaborate across teams to make critical improvements to help us take OCI to the next level.
As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.

Responsibilities
Preferred skills & experience
3+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience.
Software development experience with at least one programming language
Familiarity with Linux
Comfort with container technologies such as Docker, containerd, or Kubernetes.
Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Comfortable with complex, swiftly evolving software development environments.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and drive, follow, evangelize, and improve cross-team processes.
Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
Experience working with geographically distributed teams.
Significant work experience in startups or fast-paced enterprise technology development environments.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range: from $74,800 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
