Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer in Boston, Massachusetts

As part of Microsoft’s Cloud + AI Group , we are responsible for building, managing, and securing the platform, products, processes, and services that powers Microsoft. We build, maintain, and implement a cloud-first approach to our technology and experiences, from custom-built business solutions developing our campus of the future and our productivity and collaboration experiences like Teams and SharePoint, to horizontal 3rd party solutions like SAP and Adobe. As customer zero, we deploy these services inside Microsoft and then share best practices with enterprise customers at scale across the globe.

We are looking for excellent software engineers that will be part of the Digital Workplace engineering team and contribute to the Digital Transformation of the Microsoft physical environment . Digital Workplace deals with creating and operating work environments that are comfortable, functional, collaborative, and efficient. It enables employees to realize their potential and helps Microsoft achieve more significant business results. Microsoft Digital Workplace team provides global employees with a wide range of services essential for team collaboration and innovation, including dining/catering, shuttle/commute, meetings, reception/office upgrades/maintenance, and emergency prep and security. As an indicator of the scale of operations, this team covers 44 million square feet of office space, encompassing 600+ buildings across 100 countries.

Your primary responsibilities includes designing, coding, and testing features that enable our Digital Workplace and Global Workspace Service (GWS) business partners . You will be responsible for delivering accessible, scalable, enterprise-ready software solutions with CICD enabled along with necessary telemetry. In addition, you will be part of innovating on the latest technologies (IoT, Cloud, Modern Web, Mobile, Social, Security Software and services). In addition, you will work closely with peers across teams to help build flexible and high-performing components that enable the next generation of business services. Finally, you will work closely with Product Owners to prioritize product features and provide technical guidance to the team.

Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with top engineers across Microsoft to drive effective technical solutions

  • Coordinating with Microsoft Digital and Product leadership teams in project and strategy reviews

  • Driving the company’s strategy and technical/data architecture for key technologies to achieve cross-company goals and alignment

  • Architect, design, develop, and deliver high quality software that powers ever increasing demands of availability, reliability, security, and performance of IT core tools.

  • Stay on top of industry trends, standards from security and scalability perspective to Lead and influence design decisions to build services right ground up.

  • Driving code and design reviews and take them closure

  • Collaborate with multiple partner teams, analyze their requirements, prioritize and drive features to closure with very high quality.

  • Mentor junior engineers in the team.

Qualifications

Required :

  • 5+ years of experience with ASP.NET, MVC, or WCF/Web API is mandatory.

  • 5+ years of experience in building on web technologies and frameworks (JavaScript/TypeScript/HTML/CSS/AngularJS/ReactJS)

  • 10+ years software development experience in full product cycle: design, development, release and maintenance.

  • 5+ years of experience with relational databases and SQL.

  • 5+ years of experience delivering scalable and resilient services at large enterprise scale.

  • 5+ years of experience in data platforms including large-scale analytics on relational, structured and unstructured data

  • 3+ years of experience in ReactJS

Preferred :

  • Strong Azure Dev Ops (formerly Visual Studio Team Services).

  • Experience with Agile project management techniques.

  • Passion for using data and analytics to drive business value.

  • Excellent interpersonal and group dynamic skills

  • Strong written & verbal communication and presentation skills

  • SQL (or NoSQL), or analytics is a plus.

  • Should have a Computer Science or related degree; BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft .NET technologies (C# and the .NET Framework) and/or competitive offerings (e.g. J2EE, WebLogic or WebSphere). Candidates should have previous experience with multiple product release cycles.

  • Experience in one or more automation languages (PowerShell, Python, C#, OpenSource)

  • Experience in building systems to record and analyze telemetry
