Job Description:

The Senior Factory Supply Planning Manager will be accountable for all aspects of Supply Planning for the assigned Nestle Health Science USA business unit. Supply Planning responsibilities include: ensuring effective supply planning for finished goods, achieving targeted service levels, while optimizing inventory and bad goods management, and maintaining close relationships with factory/co-manufacturing locations, all to ensure supply plans optimize total delivered cost, and effective response to market demands. This includes assessment, development, and implementation of performance standards and operating procedures that affect the Supply Planning function.

The Senior Factory Supply Chain Manager will also be responsible for the interpretation of company-wide standards, Supply Chain reference documents, the deployment of related supply planning tools/reports and the guidance on Supply Planning processes for the entire business unit. This role will need to cascade knowledge of Supply Planning best practices and tools to other Supply Planners, new hires, and cross-functional teams. They will also be responsible for presenting the long term supply outlook and strategic plans to NHS leadership and other stakeholders. Lastly, this position will orchestrate the various functions within Supply Chain team (Customer Service, Distribution Requirements Planning, Customer Facing Supply Chain and Demand Planning) when dealing with supply disruptions and product life cycle management. This is a remote-based opportunity. However, preference will be given to applicants located within commutable distance to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Savannah, Georgia and/or Boston, Massachusetts.

Responsibilities:

Supply Planning

• Responsible for the cost-effective management of the supply/production planning and co-manufacturing/co-packing requirements planning functions.

• Responsible for supply plans that optimize supply, service, and inventory whilst working with productions constraints and total delivered cost impact.

• Ensure the execution and continuous improvement of planning processes, reporting, and use of Globe.

• Ensure a close follow-up on production performance and issues (MSA, OTR, FTQ, etc.)

• Manage short (within the Planning Time Fence) and long term (rolling 18 month) capacity plans in close conjunction with the factories, to early identify and resolve potential capacity issues.

• Ensures that customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives

• Continually reassess current supply planning processes and propose and lead new planning methods and/or tools (i.e. manage by exception, alerts usage, mastery of heuristics, etc.).

• Manage and recommend decisions for balancing supply needs across all available sourcing locations (Factory and Co-Manufacturer).

Inventory Management

• Responsible for setting, reviewing, and maintaining safety stock policy by SKU to meet agreed upon customer service level objectives while minimizing associated working capital costs

• Responsible for proposing stock cover targets annually and defining actions required to achieve the goal

• Manage bad goods in the P&L by closely monitoring any risk of ageing stock, communicate with the commercial team to align on potential actions to mitigate financial risks, and propose preventive actions to minimize future reoccurrence.

• Analyze and present monthly results and future projections of stock levels (days on hand and $ dollar impact) supported with main drivers for large changes and/or deviations from the target.

• Continually reassess current inventory management processes and propose and lead new planning methods and/or tools.

• Identify and analyze build stock needs and timing based on production availability and strategic decisions, while communicating to the appropriate stakeholders.

• Build stock events for the rolling 18month horizon as well as long term requirements and strategic plans, such as factory shutdowns, product renovations and transitions, major capital investments, line changes, etc.

Communicating Supply Outlook

• Manage the frequent communication with the cross functional team on product availability and critical items, highlighting risks of customer shortages, back in stock projections, root cause of the issue, and preventative actions to avoid future reoccurrence.

• Present supply outlook (days on hand, service levels, projected future working capital, factory performance) and any strategic plans for the 18month rolling horizon as well as the long term supply outlook to Nestle Health Science USA leadership and other stakeholders.

• Responsible for gathering all necessary inputs from other Operational functions that impact the supply outlook.

• Orchestrate the various functions within Supply Chain team (Customer Service, Distribution Requirements Planning, Customer Facing Supply Chain and Demand Planning) when dealing with supply disruptions and product life cycle management.

• Lead the budget planning and target setting activities with Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing and Finance in support of yearly operation plans.

Alignment with Manufacturing

• Optimize, review, and propose meeting structures and contents to ensure alignment with manufacturing and other operational functions.

• Manage and responsible for weekly production reviews with Manufacturing (Factory and Co-Manufacturer), discussing short term changes to the production plan, issues, constraints, etc.

• Manage and responsible for coordination with the Quality Assurance team on effective and timely product release, while prioritizing products as necessary.

• Lead monthly production reviews with Manufacturing to discuss historical performance, future projected output/capacity, downtime schedule management and ramp up/down assumptions, planning rate and line efficiencies, minimum order quantities, production frequency, and any commercial/strategic changes to manufacturing.

Change Management

• Manage communication and flow of transitions amongst various Supply planners affected by major sourcing changes and projects.

• Developing the network of Supply Planning by leading and actively presenting in Supply Planning functional meetings with other business units to share experiences and contribute to defining company-wide best practices.

• Cascades knowledge of Supply Planning best practices and tools to other Supply planners, new hires and cross-functional teams.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or in a related field required.

• 7+ years of relevant work experience in Supply Chain Management including Supply Planning, Procurement or in a related field required, preferably in a Manufacturing or Factory-based environment in the CPG, Pharmaceutical or Nutraceutical industries.

• 2-3+ years of People Leadership experience in leading, motivating and influencing teams and direct reports required.

• Demonstrated fluency in MS Office (Word/Outlook/PowerPoint) and also in MS Excel (V-Lookups, Pivot Tables, Charts, Graphs, etc.) required.

• Must possess excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, time management and stakeholder management skills (including the ability to develop and maintain strong, cross-functional stakeholder relationships).

• Strong analytical aptitude with a proven ability to both analyze and interpret data, story tell and build quantitative models of business problems required.

• Willing and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and business priorities with minimal supervision.

• Must possess creative thinking skills and problem-solving skills to solve key business challenges.

• Ability to establish and implement processes and systems to improve working methods within the team and the organization (inspiring change management).

• Experience with CRM or ERP systems including SAP, Oracle, Power BI or other systems are highly preferred.

• Willing and able to travel up to 25% based on the needs of the team and the business.

The approximate pay range for this position is $135,000 to $150,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as geographic location.
