Essential Responsibilities:

• Coordinates social work practice for accountable areas of practice. Works with interdisciplinary leadership in assigned clinical service areas to define and oversee best practice standards. Monitors the quality of social work staff performance and productivity in accordance with established standards.

• Responsible for personnel management including, but not limited to: deployment of staff, scheduling vacations, developing suitable coverage plans, employee engagement and retention.

• Demonstrates advanced clinical knowledge and the ability to provide supervision and consultation in complex psychosocial, ethical, and risk management situations. Has a broad understanding of fiscal and regulatory issues that affect decision-making and care planning.

• Identifies psychosocial and care planning needs of patients and families. Oversees development and maintenance of screening procedures and clinical care programs which best serve these needs.

• Identifies opportunities for Quality Improvement and works with leadership and other managers to plan and implement departmental and/or Medical Center Quality Improvement initiatives. Collaborates closely with medical, nursing, and administrative leaders of assigned areas to align and integrate social work practice with overall practice and strategic goals.

• Leads projects and work groups within Social Work and in the Medical Center. Responds to new requests from within and outside the Department; develops charters and work plans to achieve project goals. Participates in Medical Center and community committees and initiatives. Advocates on behalf of patients and the Medical Center around changes in state, federal and managed care policies.

• Responsible for professional development of social work and interdisciplinary staff. Develops educational programs for social work staff, graduate students, medical students, house officers, nurses, and trainees of other health care disciplines. May teach at schools of graduate education. Initiates ideas for clinical and administrative research and supports staff in these efforts.

• Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action and performance reviews.

• Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing budget in the functional areas of the department.

Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Social Work required.

• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker required.

• 5-8 years related work experience required and 3-5 years supervisory/management experience required

• Clinical Social Work experience.

• Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
