AWS’ Elastic Block Store (EBS) is looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer to help shape the future of cloud computing. If you’d like to take part by developing systems to manage infrastructure capacity for one of AWS’ largest services, read on!

EBS delivers high performance and scalable attached block storage for EC2, a key component of any application leveraging EC2. EBS’ infrastructure capacity is orchestrated at massive scale by EBS’ Fleet Capacity team and the systems they develop. These systems manage and distribute server infrastructure capacity globally through orchestration of server management workflows. The Fleet Capacity team's work has a direct impact on customer experience, EBS' operations, and our business. It's important!

As a Software Development Engineer on the EBS Fleet Capacity team you’ll work with a group of skilled engineers and use your engineering and leadership skills to develop great mission critical fleet management systems through design, development, testing, and operation. Your future team is a critical part of EBS, so you’ll collaborate with engineers and other leaders throughout the EBS organization. You’ll participate in delivering a long term strategy for infrastructure orchestration at massive scale that aligns with EBS and AWS goals and improves our business and customer experience while maintaining a high level of service. You'll be a key contributor to ensuring EBS can meet customer demand securely and reliably at scale.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced engineer excited about making an impact on EBS and cloud computing through back-end systems down to the host level. You’ll be passionate about building great technology and supporting its growth and your team mates' while delivering high quality software. You’ll enjoy working in a fast paced environment that requires strong judgment skills and great communication skills to own a critical responsibility and drive great outcomes.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
