We are looking for scale-focused and customer-obsessed full-stack developers with strong computer science fundamentals, including web application development, data structures, object-oriented design, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis. Key job responsibilities

  • Take ownership of software design, documentation, development, engineering approach, delivery, and support of systems built natively in AWS.

  • Collaborate with leaders, work backwards from customers, identify problems, propose innovative solutions, and raise standards.

  • Have a positive impact on our customers by delivering high-quality software solutions.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders on planning and communication of project deliverables.

  • Participate in an on-call rotation within your team to troubleshoot and resolve defects, with ongoing communication with stakeholders and customers.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve software development practices.

A day in the life

As a full stack engineer, you will work closely with UX designer, product managers, accessibility team, stakeholders, and software developers in partner teams to develop services and web applications. Each day you come into work, you get to learn from some of the smartest people in the world, solve hard and interesting problems, and help move the needle at Amazon scale. You will take direct action to improve customer experience by fixing bugs and performance issues, improving diagnostics and metrics, investigating customer-reported bugs, and listening to user feedback. Working with your teammates, you will discover solutions that delight customers and you will deliver software using Agile practices, which makes a positive impact in the everyday life of Amazonians.

About the team

Our team’s mission is to build innovative automation solutions to reduce manual effort, reduce errors and improve user experience of existing processes for Amazonians. We are working towards the next wave of innovation in building tools and products which will ensure compliance with privacy regulations while providing a simple, efficient, accessible and user-friendly experience.

Our engineers use technology to solve complex problems across all Amazon ecosystem, collaborating with team members in and across teams. They have the responsibility to improve and build new tools, services, and applications. Taking a business problem from conception and designing, developing and deploying software solutions while holding a high bar for code quality and their craft, is at the heart of how they make impact. They have a responsibility to deliver on schedule using current software engineering best practices.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Experience with full-stack Web software development using server side frameworks and technologies such as: Node.js, PHP, SQL, as well as front-end frameworks and technologies such as React and TypeScript, Bootstrap, JQuery, HTML5, CSS

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience in AWS, S3, SQS, large-scale web services, and serverless applications (API Gateway, Lambda functions, Route53, Cloudfront)
