Amazon Web Services Software Engineer, AWS DataSync in Boston, Massachusetts

Job summary

AWS DataSync helps customers automate the movement of their data to and from the AWS cloud. As customers migrate to the cloud and move data processing to the edge, they need a service that ensures their data is where they need it, when they need it. DataSync is that service. Every day, customers use DataSync to move millions of files and petabytes of data, accelerating their data migrations or data transfer workflows.

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to take on the challenge of building massively scalable, high performance, and secure, distributed systems that are utilized by some of the largest companies in the world. As a member of the team, you will have the opportunity to grow your technical skills while collaborating with a variety of AWS service teams ranging from file systems to databases to object storage.

A day in the life

You will actively participate in the design, development, testing, and deployment of various parts of the service. You will work closely with other developers on the DataSync team through design and code reviews and you will interact with other service teams to validate best practices and service integrations. In delivering our service, we strive for operational excellence. You will help contribute to the successful operation of the service by addressing customer issues as they arise and participating in on-call activities as needed. We believe that every person on the team is an owner and we trust each other. You should expect to take ownership of your work and drive tasks to successful delivery.

Work/Life Balance

Our team puts a high value on work-life balance. We recognize that some developers work best outside of standard office environments and we support remote work while offering many opportunities for face-to-face interaction, both online and in the office.

Mentorship & Career Growth

Our team is dedicated to supporting new team members. We have a broad mix of experience levels, and we actively foster an environment that celebrates knowledge sharing and mentorship. Our veteran engineers truly enjoy growing junior developers through one-on-one mentoring and thorough, but empathetic, design and code reviews. We value diversity and actively recruit engineers from non-traditional backgrounds. The AWS DataSync team cares deeply about your career growth. Each team member is assigned tasks that are designed to challenge them in an effective way without being overwhelming. We strongly believe in sustained and continuous gains in experience leading to well-rounded engineers.

Inclusive Team Culture

Here at AWS, we embrace our differences and are committed to furthering our culture of inclusion. We have ten employee-led affinity groups, reaching 40,000 employees in over 190 chapters globally. We have innovative benefit offerings, and host annual and ongoing learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences.
