Why This Role is Important to Us:

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Director, Software Engineering, this position will be responsible for supporting and maintaining the configuration management platform, automation of the continuous integration pipelines for compiling, testing, and releasing software applications in all required environments. The position will work closely with Engineering and Software Quality Assurance teams to support their automated build needs, and develop procedures to maintain code base integrity, including check-in validation rules and branch/merge processes.

Supervision Exercised:

• No, this position does not have direct reports.

What You'll Be Doing:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead definition and delivery of Release Engineering Function

• Mentor junior Release Engineering Team members.

• Define configuration management best practices/standards.

• Mentor engineering team members on configuration management best practices.

• Configure and debug build automation environment in GitHub.

• Manage source control branches of code and branch merges.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot build issues using Visual Studio, and communicate these to the team.

• Automate build tasks using scripting languages -- GitHub Actions, Python, Shell scripting and relevant CI/CD technologies.

• Create or maintain documentation for build systems and environments.

• Execute build and deployment steps for the release of software in partnership with engineering teams.

• Proactively seek out tasks and take ownership to improve the configuration management platform and delivery of software.

• Take initiative in finding ways to optimize the automation build and release process.

• Create/maintain repos for use by engineering teams.

What We're Looking For:

Required Education (must have):

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.

Required Experience (must have):

• 5+ years' experience as Build & Release Engineer.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (must have):

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, alert to any issues and take corrective action.

• Off hour and weekend work may be required to support deployments.

• Experience GitHub, GitHub Actions, or similar environments (3+ years)

• Experience with SQL deployments and schema management. (3+ years)

• Experience with Azure Resource Manager, Azure Deployment Environments, Bicep, Terraform or similar tools. (2+ years)

• Proficiency with scripting languages (ie Python, PowerShell,YAML) (3+ years)

• Programming knowledge of C# and use of Microsoft Visual Studio. (2+ years)

• Version control experience in SVN & GitHub,build/deploy automation, branching and merging methodologies (3+ years).

Required Language (must have):

• English

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Language (nice to have):

• Experience deploying Teradata, MuleSoft, Talend nice to have.
