Boston Public Schools STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: Beyond Possible Program Liaison (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

* This position is a stipended position and is only open to current employees whose current job status allows them to participate in these opportunities.* POSITION OVERVIEW: The position will reside at the partner high school, reporting to the Director of Pathways and is a full school year position from October 1, 2024 - May 30, 2025. Beyond Possible is a STEM focused dual enrollment pathways program that offers students the opportunity to earn 12 transferable college credits from WIT and gain hands-on experience with TPZ programming. The progression of Beyond Possible is structured so that in 10th grade, students start with exploratory STEM and entrepreneurship workshops at TPZ, laying a solid foundation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Following this, students enroll in the Dual Enrollment program of study and take two college courses offered after school at TPZ by WIT each school year during their Junior and Senior years in the field of Computer Science. Additionally, students will engage in an internship, receive a stipend and can acquire Industry Recognized Credentials. Students who complete the program will do so with 12 college credits and are eligible to receive IRCs and automatic admission to WIT. The Beyond Possible Liaison is the primary contact between Beyond Possible and the school, students and families. In SY24-25, they will play a key role in recruiting, enrolling and supporting 10th grade students to enter the exploratory program in Spring 2025 and prepare them to enroll in the 11th/12th grade program for SY 25-26. The liaison will be the primary driver of recruitment which will require skilled and timely communication between students, families, the program administrators and the school. The liaison will also provide enrollment and retention support including students have a plan for transportation and create and maintain accurate records that closely monitor student interest, enrollment, attendance and engagement. The liaison will also work to build a supportive learning community at the high school that engages and energizes their cohort of students participating in the pilot. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with school staff to share information and promote visibility of the program for educators, staff, students and families. Work with school staff to recruit eligible students and coordinate an effective, seamless onboarding process for students and families. Serve as liaison with recruitment team at TPZ and BPS to schedule and host series of recruitment offerings for students and families Engage students to ensure we are able to enroll the needed number of students in both the Spring SY25 programming and the SY 25-26 programming. Support students and families with timely completion of all enrollment documents Communicate program expectations and benefits clearly to participating students and families. Facilitate the logistics around getting groups of students to TPZ for programming. Collaborate with the administration of Beyond Possible (BPS, TPZ and Wentworth) to monitor progress, give input on program design, build the program and reflect on its effectiveness. Prepare students for their college course taking in SY25-26 through providing materials and information on how to be successful in Dual Enrollment courses. Support program development of the SY25-26 and beyond programming by attending meetings and reviewing materials. Attend collaboration meetings on a regular cycle with your Director of Pathways and BPS Office of Secondary Schools. Some required predetermined dates that this person must be available are: October 15th, 3-4:30 for a Kick Off Meeting, some availability during the first day of February and April Breaks. Anticipated Schedule Timeline: October 2024 - May 2025 Desired Start Date: October 1, 2024 Hours: 3 hours per week in the Fall; 6 hours per week Winter and Spring and some attendance of the program over the February and April Breaks Qualifications The liaison can be a teacher, school counselor, an administrative staff member, library aide, computer aide or any other staff member with authority to access student records and grades. A successful liaison will typically possess the following characteristics: An advocate for students and an extension of your school community Strong presentation and communication skills to educate the school's counseling team and community about the Beyond Possible partnership Flexible and open to new ideas to support a sustainable Early College and Dual Enrollment model for BPS students Punctual with attendance, mindful with urgency of deadlines Excellent planning, time and project management and organizational skills Willing and able to communicate with and engage multiple stakeholders including partners, central office staff, families, students and school based staff Passion for engaging students and families and belief in the importance of the Beyond Possible partnership Eager and willing to build relationships and communicate with families to strengthen their school community Bilingual a plus to communicate with families and students Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop partnerships and strategic relationships with a wide range of diverse constituents, communities and stakeholders Ability to use Canva, Microsoft Suite Tools, Google Suite Tools, Zoom, and Calendly efficiently Familiarity with High School STEM curriculum is a plus, but not required Compensation: $5,000 " />
