Finance Supervisor Needed for Spaulding Hospital

Summary

Reporting to the OP Financial Access Manager, supervises activities associated with the outpatient Centralized Financial Access team. Assists in facilitating the smooth coordination and documentation of patient benefit and authorization information within the Centralized Financial Access Team. Supervisor is responsible for enforcing policies and procedures, monitoring the accuracy of data entered by the staff, ensuring that proper patient experience protocols are followed, monitoring and clearing issues in various work queues, and managing the overall training for the department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verifies insurance benefits and eligibility with insurance carriers and government agencies.

  • Obtains prior authorizations from managed care companies via phone, e-fax or electronically via payer specific portals.

  • Maintains clear channels of communication for effective supervision and problem-solving, as related to denials.

  • Responsible for maintenance of patient and account work queues.

  • Team members are oriented, mentored and supported to achieve stated goals for performance. Performance evaluations are completed accurately and timely in accordance with organization standards.

  • Promotes collaboration among all members of the outpatient financial access team.

  • Weekly payroll sheets are coordinated to achieve accurate and timely submission into the hospital payroll system.

  • Additional department, organization, or network activities are completed per established objectives.

Qualifications

Education/Degree

Required

  • Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate program in health care related field.

  • Previous management experience preferred.

Skills (Specific learned activity gained through training (e.g. computer skills, keyboarding, presentation, CPR, ACLS, etc.)

  • Computer proficiency required. Microsoft office applications preferred with ability to learn new software.

  • Work independently, be self-directed and contribute as a member of a team.
