Pearson Virtual Schools Azure Administrator

PVS is seeking a qualified Azure Administrator to join our team responsible for managing School IT Services for customers nationwide. The ideal candidate will have extensive practical experience in supporting and administering various IT services, with a focus on hands-on expertise in a highly technical environment. This role requires strong professional customer service skills and the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.

This position is remote, with occasional travel for in-person events, school visits, or office work.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact and escalation for Azure-related issues.

  • Build, maintain, and manage Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure.

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and reliable Azure-based solutions.

  • Administer Azure services (e.g., Virtual Machines, Virtual Networks, Blob Storage, Microsoft Entra ID).

  • Monitor and troubleshoot Azure infrastructure and applications.

  • Collaborate with teams for seamless integration of applications with Azure.

  • Implement and maintain security best practices, identity, and access management.

  • Create technical documentation (architectural diagrams, specifications, configurations).

  • Provide guidance on re-engineering applications for the cloud environment.

  • Conduct regular backups and routine maintenance.

  • Stay updated on Azure features and industry best practices.

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent work experience

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft 365 and Azure in a large enterprise environment

  • Preferred certifications: MCSE, CompTIA Cloud+ Proven experience as an Azure Administrator

  • Knowledge of Azure architecture and core services (e.g., Virtual Machines, Microsoft Entra ID, Networking, Firewalls)

  • Experience with identity and access management

  • Scripting skills (PowerShell, Azure CLI) for automation

  • Experience with Windows Server/Linux

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

  • Availability for on-call support and critical outages

  • Ability to integrate technology into diverse environments

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

  • Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Customer-focused approach and team player

  • High degree of flexibility

  • Ability to work from home in a secure and distraction free environment
