Oracle Technical Principal Product Manager in Boston, Massachusetts

Oracle Database Cloud Services is one of the most popular database cloud services in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with broad adoption across the globe. We seek a dynamic and creative world-class Principal Product Manager with expertise and passion in delivering best-in-class Database Cloud Services, including Exadata Cloud Service in OCI public cloud, Exadata Cloud At Customer, and Database Cloud Service on VM. As a product leader, you should be customer-focused, possess a product development mindset, and be able to envision the next-generation capabilities and functionality for Database Cloud Services. You will drive innovation in critical areas related to roadmap definition, product requirements, feature prioritization, collateral creation, outbound communication, reference generation, and pre-sales and post-sales support.

As a product manager, you will lead product management for major innovations of Oracle’s Database Cloud Services. You should be able to understand functional requirements and architect solutions while being very hands-on and able to dive deep into any part of the stack. You should be able to work comfortably in a collaborative, agile, and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will provide:


  • Thought leadership and executive direction in establishing and developing processes and methodologies to meet and execute product strategy

  • Proven track record of building and leading results-focused teams

  • Ability to influence and communicate with geographically distributed cross-functional teams across all levels of management

  • Ability to guide functional projects from design through implementation

  • Ability to work collaboratively with engineering on product requirements and designs

  • Experience engaging with customers and influencing business leaders

Product Definition:

  • Define the product vision, strategy, and roadmap

  • Gather, manage, and prioritize market/customer requirements and product features

  • Create business cases and requirements for new features

  • Advocate for the customer by articulating the user's needs

  • Documentation review

  • Provide feedback to engineering on how well the product meets business and customer goals

Go-To-Market Activities:

  • Develop product positioning

  • Introduce new products to sales, customers, and support

  • Webcasts, datasheets, FAQs, white papers, websites, blogs, etc.

  • Customer references and stories

  • Evangelize product both internally and externally


  • Review and test new features to ensure customer expectations are met

  • Ongoing product support

  • Product Training

  • Customer briefings and assistance

  • Customer forums

  • Escalation management

Market analysis:

  • Market research

  • Competitive analysis


  • Five or more years of technical product management, preferably in enterprise computing, database technologies, cloud infrastructure, and systems (virtualization, storage, networking, OS). Candidates from engineering technical sales may also apply for this position.

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or other technical backgrounds

  • Technical expertise in enterprise cloud and database architectures

  • Deep knowledge of the public cloud and database market

  • Analytical skills with a passion for solving complex technology problems

  • Demonstrated ability to learn fast, adapt, and manage multiple complex projects/priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work across geographically dispersed cross-functional teams.

  • Experience interacting directly with customers

  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills

Technical Principal Product Manager that acts as the central resource and driving force for coming up with the product roadmap/strategy, authors crisp technical product requirements, works with engineering to deliver the product with top-notch user experience and quality, works closely with customers to get product feedback and evangelize the product. Organize interdepartmental activities, ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design, and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss significant changes to functionality.

Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in an area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Seven years of software engineering or related experience.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only

US: Hiring Range: from $87,600 to $199,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
