Humana Technology Manager in Boston, Massachusetts


In this role, you will lead diversified teams consisting of DevOps, CI/CD pipeline builder, Load/Performance testing, release management, and software development technology professionals. There is a unique opportunity to work with multiple leaders of IT and business partners to improve and re-define our technology process. The Manager, Technology Leadership works with design engineering and test team to drive products from design completion to volume production release. Performs various engineering tests to verify and validate product designs. Supports product evaluation and qualification on leading edge technology components. The ideal candidate for this position should have experience and a passion to lead software development teams to deliver software solutions, manage releases, DevOps process, Load testing and works within specific guidelines and procedures. Decisions are typically related to resources, approach, and tactical operations for projects and initiatives involving own departmental area. Requires cross departmental collaboration, and conducts briefings and area meetings; maintains frequent contact with other managers across the department.


  • Work with Product Owners to define and drive teams' technology vision and roadmap, ensuring engineering and enterprise policy and practices are prioritized among feature work

  • Work with Architects and Tech leads to establish and ensure the development of solid architecture

  • Work with Agile Leaders to ensure practical delivery plan; clears obstacles timely for the team while empowering and enabling others

  • Ensures the alignment, buy-in, and support of diverse stakeholders by building and maintaining trusting relationships with internal customers, third-party vendors, and senior management

  • Hires, trains, and develops talent for growth opportunities

  • Leads team through all technology solution development phases by ensuring team understands and adheres to company methodology, policies, standards, and controls

  • Responsible for leading, developing and mentoring a team of release management, DevOps engineers and load testers.

  • Identify and mitigate potential risks; review, track, and partner the applicable performance metrics related to the product quality.

  • Reports progress and status on key initiatives and issues to leadership. Decisions are typically related to resources, approach, and tactical operations for initiatives involving quality and processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Advanced Degree

  • 8 or more years of technology, project and/or release management experience

  • 2 or more years of management experience

  • Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment or good familiarity with the Agile methodologies. Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) knowledge and practice

  • Excellent communication skills, leadership competencies, and high level of emotional intelligence

  • Experience leading development teams and working in multi-team environment

  • Experience of working in a large program, navigating through complexities and competing priorities from multiple teams and facilitate cross functional team efforts on releases and DevOps process

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences and improve processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and experience with healthcare information technology is a plus

  • MBA or other Advanced Degree

  • Possess a solid understanding of operations, technology, communications and processes

Will report to Associate Director, Technology Solutions, IT HCS - Pharmacy System Development and Support
