Senior Manager USDA Commodity Management

Purpose and Scope/General Summary: We are looking for a dedicated and experienced USDA Procurement Senior Manager to oversee and manage our procurement process for USDA-regulated products. This role involves coordinating with USDA, State Agencies, distributors, and schools, managing product specifications, overseeing USDA audits, and ensuring compliance with the National School Lunch Program and other regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of USDA regulations, procurement processes, and food safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely submission of food defense audits at plants and shipping points to ensure the safety and integrity of food products.

  • Ensure accurate labeling and nutritional information of products in accordance with USDA guidelines.

  • Manage the National School Lunch Program procurement process, including compliance with the National Processor Agreement and Co-Packer Agreements.

  • Conduct annual audits and manage distributor agreements to ensure compliance and efficiency in the procurement process.

  • Manage customer account activities in Processor Link, including relationships with State Agencies and the USDA.

  • Work closely sales managers and broker to build and maintain relationships with key contacts to support K-12 activities.

  • Oversee contract information from government websites (WBSCM, AMS, SNA)

  • Ensure compliance in government reporting.

  • Monitor Gold Kist performance and provide analytics to support Sales and Marketing Team

  • Develops reports and presentations to summarize data, strategies, and recommendations.

  • Provides adhoc requests and supports the analysis and delivery of information. Helps communicate key findings to the relevant stakeholders.

  • Maintain SAP integrity in all areas related to K-12/USDA Bid process.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.

  • 5+ years’ experience in procurement, specifically with USDA-regulated products.

  • In-depth knowledge of USDA regulations, food safety standards, and the National School Lunch Program.

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.

  • Demonstrate leadership and influencing skills.

  • Proficiency in web-based supply chain management tools, preferably WBSCM.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to travel as needed for audits, supplier visits, and conferences.

  • Can perform the functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.     The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits :

  • Benefits : Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;

  • Paid Time Off : sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;

  • 401(k) : company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;

  • Base salary range of $70,000 - $85,000 ; and

  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;
