National Archives and Records Administration Visitor Services Coordinator in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration. The incumbent serves as the Visitor Services Coordinator at the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. Under the general supervision of the Supervisory Visitor Services Specialist, the incumbent performs a variety of administrative and technical work in support of the Visitor Services to ensure positive customer experiences at the Library and Museum. Responsibilities The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position. As a Visitor Services Coordinator, you will: Assist in administering public information in relation to the Visitor Services programs for a Presidential Library. Collect, remit, and account for fees in accordance with established guidelines for handling government funds. Maintains accurate statistical reporting of fiscal accounts for the for their fee station and performs accurate accounting and reporting of visitation and revenue collection activities on a daily basis for their fee station Develop and organize orientation and training workshops for the Visitor Services staff and volunteers on the functions of the library, its holdings, the life and career of the former President, including preparation of information/education/public relations materials and programs for a variety of audiences at various levels. Assist with various projects relating to development of written material for use in conjunction with tour visits and other materials to be used by Visitor Services staff and docents throughout the Museum to enhance the visitor experience. Requirements Conditions of Employment The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. A one year probationary period may be required. Must successfully complete a background investigation. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized experience for the GS-06 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-05 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must include: Experience in greeting visitors or customers in a professional setting, such as; an office, information desk, admissions desk, theater, or lobby. AND Experience in assisting with various projects relating to development of written material. Specialized experience for the GS-05 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 level, or equivalent that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position must include: Experience in using computer database systems or Using Point of Sale (POS) systems to process transactions for visitors or customers (examples; cash register, kiosk, card reader). AND Experience communicating with customers and responding to inquiries, verbally or in writing. OR You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school. OR You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks. Advancement to positions up to GS-5: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-05 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non-temporary competitive appointment.
