Humana VP, Medicare Growth Strategy in Boston, Massachusetts

Against that backdrop, we are seeking a talented leader for the position of Vice President, Medicare Growth Strategy. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of diverse strategic initiatives for Humana's Insurance Segment, which includes Medicare Advantage (Individual and Group), Medicaid, and Specialty businesses. You will partner with the senior leaders of the Insurance Segment, and more broadly with leaders throughout the enterprise, as they deliver strategy projects addressing some of the business' most important opportunities and challenges. These high profile strategy projects place the team at the forefront of helping to define the future of Humana's largest businesses.

You will lead team members through the creation of Humana's Medicare Go-To-Market Strategy and will orchestrate the efforts that go into our annual Medicare bid process. You will also shape implementation considerations and work with business owners as appropriate to transition analysis into execution. While doing so, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow team members, subject matter experts, members of Humana's executive Management Team, and corporate, functional, and business unit leaders.

You will also guide the team in assembling deliverables that synthesize and communicate the Insurance Segment's strategy to key audiences, including the Humana Management Team, Humana Board of Directors, and external investors.

This position, which reports to the Senior Vice President, Medicare Growth and Strategy, can be located anywhere within the lower 48 contiguous states. Relocation is not required.

Key Candidate Requirements :

In general terms, the ideal candidate will have a well-developed and broad knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, including a track record of identifying industry, market and competitor trends to offer insightful implications for the greater business. He/she will also have a record of success in running the strategy planning process in a complex, multi-business environment - ideally $50B revenue or greater. Bachelor's degree required, with MBA, MPH, PhD, or graduate degree in a management field highly preferred.

In addition to the above, the following professional credentials and personal attributes are also sought:

  • Several years of full-time, post-graduate degree work experience (typically 6+ years) with a top tier strategy consulting firm.

  • Proven ability to drive a future-focused strategic agenda that anticipates changes and disruption and sees opportunities for the future.

  • A record of success in helping advance organizational thinking about "Integrated Health" and working with business units to build strategies from present to future state.

  • Track record of delivering demonstrated value through implementing strategic initiatives to support the enterprise; understands that the essence of strategy lies in successful execution and effective integration.

  • Strong leadership skills with proven success in expanding and elevating the capabilities and performance of a team.

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the polish, poise, and executive presence that will ensure effective interaction with senior and executive level audiences.

  • Current or recent experience in a large, highly matrixed company (i.e., Fortune 150), with proven ability to influence leaders and key stakeholders in such an environment.

  • Highly collaborative mindset and excellent relationship-building skills, including the ability to engage many diverse stakeholders and SMEs and win their co-ownership in the outcome.

  • Current or recent experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, including Medicare Advantage experience, is desirable, but not required.
