About the VP, Project Management Position
Verndale is excited to be adding a new leadership role in our Project Management department. In this role you will be responsible for leading and advancing the Project Management Office (PMO) function within Verndale. As the leader of the overall project management function, you will provide leadership, mentorship, and management of PMO processes. You will support and enable Verndales ongoing engagements, ensuring that the PMP adds value to our teams and aligns to the overall strategy of the business.
Facilitate consensus across the organization around the mission and vision of the PMO
Champion the improvement of current project management processes, methods, tools, guidelines & standards to establish a framework that supports all teams and stakeholders to improve the efficiency and probability of successful project delivery
Define, manage, and direct the end-to-end PMO work effort, which includes leveraging best practices and techniques in identifying, quantifying and tracking the realization of expected outcomes across projects
Develop PM user requirements and supports the implementation/update of technologies impacting the PMO, where appropriate
Take responsibility for resourcing of billable staff across the organization, working closely with delivery teams on short and long-term forecasting and resourcing needs
Align to existing and/or make recommendations for improvement to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics, leading indicators and project reporting
Build and maintain relationships with leadership and key business stakeholders
Foster collaboration, strategic alignment and integrated planning and execution across multiple functions in a matrixed organization
Regularly review and evaluate opportunities to improve project management best practices
Develop and exhibit a deep understanding of Verndale’s service offerings and skillsets to help identify ways for the organization to grow and provide additional value to our client base, both in terms of maximizing skillsets of existing staff and improving our overall delivery and client satisfaction
Mentor and manage internal Verndale team members (up, down, and across the organization) to ensure success of company and client goals, either in a direct management, project-based, or matrixed relationship
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of ten years of experience in project/program management
Proven history of successfully leading a project management team or department
Significant knowledge of project planning tools with evidence of practice application (e.g., JIRA/Confluence, MS Project, SmartSheet, Power BI, etc.)
Ability to work creatively and analytically to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and complex issues using logical and efficient processes while still keeping a high level of attention to detail and quality of work
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the PMO vision, and inspire and motivate PMO staff
Experience in an agency setting
