Fortive Corporation Production Technician in Boxborough, Massachusetts

POSITION SUMMARY: The Production Technician I will be responsible for the assembly of various components into finished products. They will also complete final testing and documentation on finished products to ensure that they conform to specifications and quality standards. Assist in developing and maintaining the appropriate build procedures and processes to ensure the final product meets all company and customer specifications. This person will participate in the company-wide lean conversion process, which will have an impact on safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Candidate must be self-motivated and a team player. Analytical and problem-solving skills as well as solid time-management, organizational and multitasking skills are important.

  • Along with those identified below, other duties may be assigned.

  • Assembling and Testing product that meets or exceeds our customer’s delivery and performance requirements (in adherence to final inspection reports) in a safe and efficient manner.

  • Pull required material and build assemblies in accordance with indicated specifications per standard operating procedures and/or drawings.

  • Work with blueprints, schematics, drawings, and written or verbal instructions to assemble products in a timely manner.

  • Integrate, test and inspect fit and function using precision measuring instruments including but not limited to: micrometer, dial indicator, gages, precision square, scale, level, electronic probe, laser system, and oscilloscope.

  • Test product in accordance with indicated specifications per standard operating procedures and/or drawings.

  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering to resolve build, test and quality issues.

  • Recommend design improvements for manufacturability using the Engineering Change Request process.

  • Identify and escalate material concerns that may impact adherence to production schedule.

  • Maintain accurate kanban within cells (scan kanban cards, proper labeling, proper use of stop signs, and material flow).

  • Assist in the preparation and packaging of finished products for shipment.

  • Participate in 5S to establish, maintain, and continuously improve a clean and safe working environment.

  • Participate in daily management pertaining to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost; assist with countermeasures and corrective actions when goals are not met.

  • Demonstrated ability to write well and communicate clearly to all functions within the organization.

  • Experience in mechanical assembly and test; preferably related to precision motion systems or medical devices.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, documentation, etc.

  • Understanding of MRP system, kanban process, and material flow.

  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.

  • Willingness to promote continuous improvement through FBS principles related to quality, delivery, and cost.

  • Basic understanding of Windows Microsoft Office and Oracle functions.

  • Experience working in an ISO:9001 or ISO:13485 certified environment.
