Job Description: - Conduct advising sessions with students regarding academic, career, and transfer issues for students enrolled in career and technical programs. - Assist CTE (Career Technical Education) students with the development of career plans, as well as advising students in overcoming obstacles to completing their programs. - Participate in orientation programs and registration sessions to ensure that students register for appropriate courses in a timely manner. - Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities (i.e. collects, organizes, and disseminates statistical data; maintains and updates student files; prepares individual education plans, career assessments, student documentation, flyers, logs, reports, forms, and general correspondence; receives or refers to statistical data, college catalogs, schedules, student records, job placement reports, handbooks, policies, procedures, and reference material; operates a computer and utilizes word processing, spreadsheet, database, desktop publishing, or other software programs). - Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas (i.e. maintains a working knowledge of assigned area; maintains current knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws/regulations; researches new trends and advances in the profession; reads professional literature; participates in professional organizations; attends workshops and training sessions). Requirements: - Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training involving college admissions, academic advisement, career development, or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of online data base systems; Banner, Degree works. - Knowledge of current trends in how academic advising and career exploration are related. - Prior experience in working with diverse or non-traditional students. - Strong interpersonal, organizational skills. - Excellent judgement and decision-making ability. - Must exhibit training, sensitivity, and commitment to the needs of youth and adults from disadvantaged backgrounds Applicants who do not meet the qualifications as stated above are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them with the equivalent combination of education, training and experience required for the responsibilities of this position. Additional Information: Position Status: Part-time, Non-benefited Massachusetts Community College Council (MCCC) position. This is a grant funded position and is contingent upon availability of funds. Due to COVID-19, this position will work remotely until further guidance is received from the college. Hours: 18 hours a week/52 weeks per year (but can be flexible). Two evening shifts until 6:00pm will be required. (Not to exceed 936 hours annually). Salary- $30.03 per hour Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites.
