Brockton Hospital EEG Technician in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Diagnostic Cardiology Services, performs standard and complex neurophysiological recordings on both inpatients and outpatients during surgical and special procedures.

Functions independently in applying appropriate judgment regarding type and acceptability of test results. Responsible for preliminary interpretation of results, reporting unusual findings to neurologist.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates as team member, meets daily productivity standards and effectively adapts to change or unusual circumstance

  • Demonstrates competency in providing the following services to all age groups including neonatal, pediatric, adult and geriatric

    -Routine EEG's

    -Sleep EEG's

    OR EEG's

  • Follows all guidelines as detailed in hospital and departmental manuals.

  • Attends pertinent meetings and participates in department and organizational goals.

  • Responsible for all departmental record keeping, statistics and charges.

  • Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

      1. Communicates effectively with internal and external customers with respect of differences in cultures, values, beliefs and ages, utilizing interpreters when needed.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be registered by American Society of EEG Technologists (ASET) or registry eligible.

  • Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience to be proficient in duties.

  • It is reasonable to anticipate that the incumbent may have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the course of his/her regularly scheduled activities as an associate of Brockton Hospital

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors.

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's Degree in Electroencepholographic (EEG) Technology or equivalent experience required.

  • Experience (Type & Length): Requires a minimum of two (2) years experience to be proficient in duties.

  • Certification/Licensure: Must be registered by American Society of EEG Technologists (ASET) or registry eligible.
