Brockton Hospital Exercise Therapist in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Coordinator, Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation, responsible for Exercise session supervision. Participates in developing and implementing the plan of care for patients in both cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs.

This is a full-time flex position

Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with Coordinator participates in all areas of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation as required with particular emphasis on exercise physiology and prescription.

  • Duties include instruction and monitoring of patients during exercise sessions, evaluate patient condition before, during and after exercise; observe for adverse reactions and report to R.N. or physician.

  • Attends scheduled utilization/quality assurance meeting to discuss patient progress

  • In Coordinator's absence, coordinates all aspects of program in cooperation with Staff RN.

  • Records patient progress reports and discharge summaries.

  • Interviews new patients. Documents patient assessment and formulation of care plans.

  • May be required to assist in Stress Testing lab periodically.

  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

    BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables within established department and hospital policies and procedures.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Ability to assign and delegate duties in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgement in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies and vendors.

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology with some concentration in cardiac rehabilitation or exercise science.

  • Experience (Type & Length): Two years experience in cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation.

  • Certification/Licensure: BLS Certification required. Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist certification preferred.
