Position Summary:

Our group consists of 4 Optometrists and 3 Ophthalmologists. We are a medically based practice that offers diverse services from comprehensive eye exams, contact lens fittings to cataract surgery. We provide services for Medical exams including fluorescein angiography using the Optos machine, eye injections, and laser treatment. We service the South Shore area with 2 locations on the east and west side of Brockton. working under the direction of the Practice Manager and Lead Technician, with the physician’s oversight, assists in the processing of patients by performing ophthalmic technical and administrative support services

Location: 179 Quincy St, Brockton, MA

Department: Eye Services

This is a full-time 40 hour/week position

Responsibilities: ·Performs Ophthalmic testing for the physician including: Tonometry, Refractometry, OCT, Visual Fields, Pachymetry, peritometry lensometry, auto refractions, fundus photography, and patient work ups. ·Calculate diagnostic data: K readings, refraction, visual fields ·Document patient history; perform visual acuity and glaucoma tests. ·Prepares instruments for in office procedures. ·Enter data into the EMR during patient work ups. ·Assist surgeons in the office during procedures. ·Provide post-op progress reports to the surgeons · Monitor and maintain inventory of all medications, medical supplies and printed material needed for clinic. · Maintain and monitor clinic equipment

· Share responsibility for actively maintaining "workload items" for clinical and support buckets

BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Must be able to reasonably make appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies, and vendors

    Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Ophthalmic Technician with COA or COT certification preferred

  • Experience (Type & Length) : Previous Ophthalmic/Optometric experience preferred.

  • Certification/Licensure: Certified MA or other applicable certification

  • Software/Hardware: Proficiency in basic computer operating systems and technology

  • Other: Knowledge of Medical terminology and pharmacology ideal.
