Brockton Hospital Paramedic in Brockton, Massachusetts

Position Summary:
Provides advanced technical and non-technical support in the care and treatment of patients in the Emergency Department, under the direction of the Nurse Manger, Registered Nurse and/or physician staff.
Location: 680 Centre Street, Brockton, MA
Department: Emergency Department
This is a full-time 40 hour/ week position. Every other weekend/holiday
Responsibilities:
Understands the customer's needs and provide correct information and the ability to resolve problems requiring logical thinking and follow through.
Functions calmly and logically under tense and difficult situations .
Works with frequent interruptions and responds appropriately to unexpected situations.
Accepts constructive feedback and initiates appropriate actions to correct situations.
Manages difficult patients with high regard for staff and patient safety.
Deals with a variety of unique situations where only limited standardization may exist.
Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Uses appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, coworkers and, outside agencies.
Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills to work in a fast paced environment involving interaction with associates, clients and patients.
Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
Document patient information, condition, and treatment
Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment for patients
Provide basic life support as delegated
BASIC KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/APTITUDE/EXPERIENCE:
Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment
Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment.

Performs other duties as assigned
Education/Experience/Licenses/Technical/Other:
Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Experience (Type & Length) : 1 year of experience in an emergency care setting preferred
Certification/Licensure : Current Paramedic certification/license in the state of Massachusetts. Current ACLS and BLS certification
