Under general supervision of the Manager of Tumor Registry, assists management with the daily operations of the Cancer Registry to maintain compliance needed to obtain certification from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and the National Association Programs of Breast Centers, (NAPBC); to assure all appropriate guidelines are in compliance. Keep abreast of all changes from the COC, analyzes, abstracts, and codes selected cases using ICD–0, ICD-10, STORE/ FORDS, SSDI/SEER in the Cancer Registry Database and prepare cases for the Massachusetts Cancer Registry utilizing the Mass Cancer Registry manuals. Also preparing cases for the submission to the National Cancer Database, utilizes AJCC Staging, 8th Edition, STORE manual, and the Multiple Primaries Rules. Bachelor of Science Degree preferred and/or 5 years experience in the Cancer Registry; National Tumor Registry Certification; Minimum 5 years abstracting, experience as a Certified Cancer Registrar; Coordinate Cancer Conferences, responsible for organizing weekly multidisciplinary cancer conference; Coordinate quality control of Cancer Registry Data, ensure physician review 10% of current abstracts; Demonstrate clinical competence and in-depth knowledge of specialty area. The incumbent will be expected to maintain current certification and meet the continuing education requirements. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is required. Proficiency with tumor registry abstracting software, as well as, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
