Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Officer, Peer-to-Peer Fundraising in Brookline, Massachusetts

The Officer reports to Director, Peer-To-Peer Fundraising. They are responsible for managing the Patient Partner programs for the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk and the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC). Additionally, the Officer will serve as the point of contact for Jimmy Fund Walk teams raising $10-20K and a select group of DFMC runners.

The onboarding of this role will include a comprehensive training process which includes completion of online modules, shadowing colleagues, as well as hands-on learning experiences throughout the first calendar year in the role.

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. DFCI guidelines state that employees must reside in New England: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, or Vermont.

  • Maintain a portfolio of Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk teams raising $10 - $20K and a select group of DFMC runners raising $10K+ Serve as point of contact for walkers and runners; cultivate and steward participants while strategizing to help maximize fundraising results

  • Conduct meaningful touchpoints throughout the year to increase participant fundraising, retention and build a pipeline of donors

  • Oversee the Hero Program, the Boston Marathon® Jimmy Fund Walk’s patient partner program

  • Recruit and steward 50+ pediatric and adult Heroes and their families

  • Oversee Hero and Match Team process, matching interested Heroes and Walk teams together

  • Serve as primary point of contact for Heroes who start Walk teams

  • Manage patient partner Walk day involvement and overall communications

  • Plan and execute Hero Match Party for Hero families and Hero Match Teams

  • Oversee the DFMC Patient and In-Memory Partner Program

  • Recruit and steward 30 – 50 pediatric Patient Partners and their families

  • Facilitate runner application process and coordinate matches

  • Plan and execute three Patient Partner events throughout the DFMC season (Meet Your Match, In-Memory Dinner, Poster Party)

  • Manage Partner Program Marathon Weekend involvement and overall communications

  • Serve as liaison to the Donor Experience and Engagement team to streamline, improve and document patient partner activations across the Division.

  • Assist with other team responsibilities, as necessary.

  • Available to staff Boston Marathon® weekend (4/17 – 4/21) and Walk weekend (tentatively scheduled for the weekend of October 2 – 5) as primary point of contact for patient partners and their families.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

N/A

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate/Bachelor’s degree preferred. 2 years’ relevant work experience required. Event planning, fundraising or donor engagement experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Comfort working with cancer patients and families and ensuring HIPAA compliance. Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills; possess the ability to work well with all DFCI Departments and donor constituencies of all levels; juggle multiple projects; and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Reliance on excel so high level of competence in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Remote flexibility (0-1 days onsite each week). Some travel and evening and weekend work required.
