SCHEDULE: 16 hours, Saturday - Sunday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Pays $21.40 per hour DOE

JOB DESCRIPTION:
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Weekend Residential Counselor will provide awake overnight coverage, doing regular rounds throughout the building, being available to tenants as necessary, assisting with regular daily tenant wellness checks, observing, and upholding the rights of tenants, overseeing occupancy agreement and house rule compliance, setting limits when appropriate, and providing crisis intervention as necessary. Counselors will contribute to the physical upkeep of the building by noting any housekeeping or maintenance issues that arise during their shift, resolving these problems where possible, and forwarding concerns to appropriate staff for later resolution when necessary. May be assigned to other Supportive Housing sites as necessary. Occasional daytime availability during the weekdays will be required for trainings, meetings, and other obligations. This person will be an important member of a team, which has as its goal assisting our tenants to achieve the very highest possible quality of life.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:
REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED
English literacy
PREFERRED:
Bilingual in English and Spanish
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
Ability to work well with a diverse population, including formerly chronically homeless persons and those living with co-occurring behavioral health disorders
Previous counseling experience
Basic computer skills
PHYSICAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
Ability to lift heavy objects (50 lbs.)
Ability to climb several flights of stairs
Ability to respond quickly to emergencies
MENTAL ABILITIES/SKILLS:
REQUIRED:
Good communication skills
Self motivated
Ability to diffuse/mediate disputes
Well organized
Ability to follow through on scheduled tasks
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Represent Pine Street Inn/Congregate Housing.
Promote social interaction and cooperative problem solving.
Provide awake overnight coverage.
Communicate maintenance issues to Congregate Housing Facilities Department.
Maintain a safe and sanitary living environment.
Ensure that all entrances and sidewalks are free of snow and ice.
Oversee compliance with house rules and lease agreements.
Clean and setup vacant apartments for new tenants.
Check with all tenants on a daily basis.
Complete the daily checklist.
Observe all policies and procedures related to the health and safety of the tenants.
Using the email group for this residence and other means, communicate with all relevant staff each day regarding information concerning tenants. Observe all policies and procedures related to the health and safety of the tenants.
Perform other additional assignments or projects as requested/directed by supervisor.
Comply with and model compliance with all PSI policies, including illness prevention and occupational health policies.
Accept other duties or work locations as assigned in order to meet the needs of the organization during weather or other emergencies.
