The BAE Systems FAST Labs RF, Electronics, Cyber Assured Solutions (AS) Technical Area is growing rapidly. Ranging from formal methods to generative AI, AS is looking into how we securely develop software and protect mission-critical systems. With this growth, we are seeking a Research Scientist to help create the cutting-edge capabilities that we aim to provide to the warfighter. Through innovative R&D and customer program collaboration, your work will help enable the development of new tools and techniques. As a Research Scientist, you would be responsible for understanding complex problems for our sponsored research programs and developing the prototypical software in order to transition our disruptive technologies from research efforts into BAE System s Business Areas products and services.
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. Roles and Responsibilities may include:
Support the design, development and selection of basic software components utilizing fundamental engineering principles, theories and techniques.
Assist in the analysis and understanding of systems and software for relevant cyber and assurance properties
Perform surveys of current state-of-the-art research in a target areas, such as LLM applications to cyber security, techniques to differentiate anomalies and cyber attacks, methods for handling state explosion in static software analysis, and more
Support to Scientists and Technology Development Managers to develop designs and concepts to be utilized for new business pursuits
Obtain working knowledge of company tools. Perform analyses and compile data for investigation by senior personnel.
Support contract work in cyber/AI capability development

This position can be based out of our Merrimack, NH, Burlington, MA or Arlington, VA, though it will require collaboration with staff across our business areas and facilities in the Northeast.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
The candidate will have a Bachelor s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Applied Math, Physics, Computer Science or similar field with 5-7 years of relevant demonstrated technical research.
5-7 years of professional experience with modelling tools and software languages such as MATLAB, Python, Java, C, or C .
5-7 years of professional experience performing and implementing research in areas of cyber security, such as software assurance, real-time attack detection, reverse engineering, static and dynamic analysis, or others.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
5-7 years of experience being part of a multi-disciplinary project team in research or development.
2-5 years of experience writing research proposals for the DoD or other relevant agencies, such as DARPA.
Experience leading medium to large research programs as a PI or Technical Lead.
Experience with and knowledge of AI techniques and how they can apply to the cyber security domain.
Published works, patents, or recognized contributions to the domains mentioned above
Full-Time Salary Range: $126610 - $215270

However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
