Our Procurement team at Wellness Pet is made up of professionals who understand the difference our products make in the lives of pets and the families who love them. We are currently seeking aProcurement Manager, Packagingto join our team in our Corporate Headquarters in Burlington, MA. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Sourcing, the Procurement Manager, Packaging will support Wellness Pet-s packaging spend, drive supply chain efforts in projects related to new packaging development, evaluate new vendors and packaging technology, all while ensuring cost optimization across all formats for our internal manufacturing sites and our co-manufacturers.

What You-ll Accomplish

  • Conduct market research related to packaging materials, track pricing trends and conduct cost analyses to ensure a competitive packaging portfolio

  • Analyze upstream feedstocks/commodities; create cost models to understand impact on pricing of finished packaging materials

  • Manage direct and indirect packaging cost across a diverse portfolio of finished products manufactured at our internal sites and 3rd?party co-manufacturers totaling $285 Million++ annually

  • Assist the packaging manager with the packaging spend - tracking packaging buys with the Planning group & Co manufacturing partners. Ensure agreed upon buying strategies are implemented

  • Develop and publish in conjunction with the Packaging Manager, key PPV/ IPV & performance indicator reporting (KPI) for the packaging category

  • Troubleshoot and resolve packaging related issues in conjunction with the packaging engineering team

  • Identify and qualify new supply sources to reduce cost, simplify our supply chain and improve the overall quality of our vendor base

  • Coordinate vendor qualification and management processes with our Quality, Manufacturing and R&D teams

  • Support annual budget setting process for packaging

  • Assist with supplier negotiations and coordinating contract execution

  • Identify and drive value optimization initiatives for cost / manufacturing efficiencies

  • Drive periodic packaging reconciliation with internal & external manufacturing partners

  • Drive Wellness Pet-s agenda towards developing a sustainable packaging portfolio

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously; including meeting facilitation, documentation, creating and managing timelines, and identifying opportunities for cost savings

  • Live the Wellness Pet values and culture and doing whatever it takes for the pets who depend on us

In addition to our Wellie values, we are looking for someone who is an analytical self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. Other qualifications include:

  • Bachelors Degree in packaging or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience working with data, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • An understanding of basic manufacturing cost models & processes

  • The ability to analyze and present data to multiple levels of the organization

  • Well-developed project management skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively across different functions

  • Technically savvy with MS Excel and PowerPoint and Access

  • Ability to travel 30% of the time
