    Job Description

ACADEMIC PROGRAMS ASSISTANT, SM/PHD AND TRANSPORTATION PROGRAMS, Civil and Environmental Engineering, to perform complex and diverse administrative duties in support of the academic office with specific focus on Master of Science/PhD and Interdepartmental Program in Transportation student support; exercise judgment and anticipate the needs of the Assistant Director of Academic Program Administration, the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and Interdepartmental Program in Transportation academic community; to arrange and support a diverse set of complex administrative duties; implement recommended changes and enhancements to Academic Programs Office procedures as they pertain to SM/PhD and Transportation student support and recruiting; focus on department outreach in recruiting graduate students in coordination with the Assistant Director of Academic Program Administration; work to encourage diversity in all areas of student services and support; and interface with faculty, staff, students, and applicants requiring an in-depth understanding of the department, MIT academic administration and MIT policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: High school diploma; a minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience, preferably in an academic setting; robust organizational skills; ability to work with minimal supervision, prioritize multiple tasks, and remain focused despite numerous interruptions; experience with FileMaker Pro, MS Word, Excel; discretion; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a broad range of faculty, students, and staff; accuracy and attention to detail; and high level of computer literacy including ability and willingness to learn new software.
