Aquatics Coordinator, Cambridge, MA

Onsite leadership & oversight of Swim Instruction Program & Lifeguards!

Harvard Recreation , managed by HealthFitness , has a new opportunity for an experienced full-time Aquatics Coordinator . Under the supervision of the Director of Recreational Operations and Fitness and in collaboration with Harvard's Director of Recreational and Aquatic Programs, you'll be responsible for the hiring, onboarding, and management of all part-time lifeguards, swim instructors, and lifeguard instructors at Harvard University’s Malkin Athletic Center (MAC) Pool and the Blodgett Pool. You will provide customer service, oversee the learn to swim program, and assist with compliance of local, state, and federal regulations. Schedule is 40 hours a week providing administrative duties, lifeguard coverage, and aquatic event management.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Departmental Duties: Coordinate, train, oversee and evaluate swim lesson program and instructors. Support varsity athletics operations including setup and break down for competitions.

• Administrative Duties: Recruit, interview, hold tryouts for, select, and onboard lifeguard and swim instructor staff. Review and process payroll for all direct reports.

• Staff Support: Act as MOD to support business operations, develop staff through in-service trainings & reviews, assist with scheduling, and fill-in as needed as Lifeguard or teach lessons.

• Other duties as needed/assigned.

What you’ll bring with you:

• HS Diploma or GED. Ideal applicants will have a Bachelor's Degree in teaching, sports management, higher education administration, recreation or a related field.

• A minimum of 2+ years of Aquatics experience preferrable in a leadership capacity.

• American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid.

• ARC Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal & customer service skills.

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Lifeguard Instructor Certification (LGI) required within 6 months of hire (can obtain onsite).
