  • Proven ability to prioritize and successfully manage several projects at a time while adhering to deadlines, showing initiative and communicating regularly and succinctly with managers and partners.

  • Must demonstrate strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills and be comfortable engaging high-powered alumni constituents with poise, self-confidence, and a friendly demeanor.

  • Proven critical and strategic-thinking qualities, sound judgment, flexibility, and creative problem-solving essential.

  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel, and ability to quickly learn new technology.

Additional Information:This position is approved as a term appointment with an end date of 06/30/2025. There is a possibility of renewal/extension.

This role is offered as a hybrid (some combination of onsite and remote) where you are required to be onsite at our Boston, MA based campus 2 days per week. Specific days and schedule will be determined between you and your manager.

Department:External RelationsPre-Employment Screening:Education, IdentityJob Function:Alumni Affairs and Development Position Description:Reporting to the Associate Director of Alumni Programs, this Assistant Director will curate and manage content focused programs and events in support of the School’s “Lifelong Learning, Lifelong Engagement” strategic priority. The primary focus will be planning conferences and/or reunion programs, though they will also participate in the planning of virtual programs and may contribute to the “Produce, Promote, Share” strategic effort aimed at curating content-based events from across the HBS ecosystem and marketing them to HBS alumni. Given the matrixed structure of the organization, this role will engage in cross-departmental projects, programs and events as determined by Alumni Relations strategy.

Other Core Responsibilities:

  • Builds and maintains relationships with HBS faculty by communicating directly with faculty speakers.

  • Synthesizes faculty research and presentation objectives and edits faculty text in order to meet alumni marketing needs.

  • Identifies and advises occasional alumni speakers.

  • Participates in alumni reunion volunteer meetings.

  • Cultivates relationships and collaborates closely with colleagues in Alumni Relations, Alumni Marketing & Communications, Media Services, HBS Initiatives, Career and Professional Development, Baker Library, HBS Online, and others.

  • Evaluates and reports on program effectiveness.

  • Develops knowledge of School's existing intellectual capital and ensures ongoing systematic understanding of new intellectual capital being created.

  • Program curation, design and delivery in support of lifelong learning strategic priority:

  • Manage faculty relationship and all content and engagement elements for lifelong learning programs (including reunion faculty presentations and may include virtual programs, industry conferences, and experimental programs)

  • Manage communications, serving as primary point of contact for speakers and event organizers including faculty, alumni, and other experts

  • Stay current on faculty research and areas of expertise

  • Evaluate and report on program effectiveness

  • Be responsible for other duties as required, including support of various departmental programs and events including Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 reunions.
