  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience in the software field preferred.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex issues.

  • Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external teams.

  • Demonstrated ability in writing technical requirement documentation

  • Collaborate with other IT application owners and leaders to communicate, share and implement best practices.

  • Troubleshooting skills, problem resolution, project management, and technology evaluation to meet business requirements.

Job Summary:

Independently perform comprehensive applications/web development for projects (or enhancements to existing applications) of small to medium size and complexity; work as part of a team to implement and support business solutions. Write basic code of moderate complexity and maintain related documentation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate fully in software development life cycle

  • Support technical solutions to deliver business requirements

  • Troubleshoot problems and suggest improvement to coding practices

  • Responsible for writing moderately complex SQL statements to do data collection, validation, and transformation in an Oracle database.

  • Learn GRAILS framework and associated technologies (Git, containers, CI/CD etc) to develop business solutions

  • Learn Oracle APEX framework skills to develop APEX applications.

  • Work in a paired programming situation (or peer review) with senior developer to write code and unit test

  • Complete IT Academy foundational courses related to this position

  • Abide by and follow the HUIT technical standards, policies, and Code of Conduct.

Typical Core Duties:

Daily tasks will be focused around working with the development team to transform requirements into specifications and then transforming those specifications into a working application. You'll be building applications on the latest release of APEX or Grails framework, and will be required to write backend code using a suite of APIs to compliment the applications.
