Additional Qualifications and Skills: Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Facilitating a number of important annual data collection processes on behalf of the School and student service offices, for example, the Tuition, Enrollment and Financial Aid annual data collection and the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) annual data collection
Helping to coordinate emergency management and readiness activities along with other key offices of the School
Maintaining and ensuring compliance with all School, University, and Federal rules, and either acting as or designating a Title IX Officer for students
Working with Harvard Health Services on relevant student mental health service issues and protocols
Offering guidance to students along with other members of the OSS teams
Having an officiating role in graduation ceremonies for the School
Overseeing student crisis management
Working with University Ombuds officers and legal counsel on relevant student issues and protocols
Managing the student disciplinary and grievance processes
Representing the School internally and externally, including at selected conferences/recruiting events
Serving as a representative for student services on various School and University committees (e.g., the Council of Deans of Students)
Strong record of leading and mentoring staff strongly preferred
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Preference for candidates who have experience with:
Graduate or professional higher education
Enterprise student information systems
Strategic analysis and use of data to inform decisions
Support of educational programs through effective enrollment systems and student services
Leading change
Working both collaboratively and independently
Demonstrating a problem-solving approach and identification of creative solutions
Demonstrating an understanding of and sensitivity to student-related issues in the context of professional education including wellness, diversity, and professionalism

Department:Office of Student ServicesPre-Employment Screening:Criminal, Education, IdentityJob Function:Faculty & Student Services Position Description: The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience with enrollment management and student affairs, have a passion for the provision of effective, efficient, creative, and customer-focused services, and enjoy working in a fast-paced and changing environment, ready to meet challenges at both the strategic and individual levels. They will want to balance developing ideas and materials themselves, together with managing, coaching, and supporting others on the teams, toward the common goal of providing “best in class” student services.
More specifically, the Associate Dean of Student Services will work closely with the Dean for Education, the Directors of the student service offices, other areas of the Office of Education, academic departments and programs, faculty committees, and students to develop and implement the following goals and strategies:
Oversee the offices so that they consistently contribute to an exceptional student experience that promotes academic success and personal well-being
Work with School and University staff to set development priorities for the enterprise student information system
Develop an increasingly stronger customer service culture for the student service offices, helping staff at all levels navigate the complex set of programs at the School, so that they can better help students
Cultivate strong and positive relationships with academic programs and departments to ensure a consistently exceptional student experience
Enact the core values of the Office of Education including openness, communication and collaboration; equity, diversity and inclusion, and creative thinking toward strategic change
Expand the School's applicant pool in order to enhance the quality and diversity of the student body and recruit top students
Effectively manage enrollment
Use financial aid to the best advantage by looking analytically at financial aid trends, and working with senior leadership to identify new sources of financial aid funding
Collect and analyze data concerning applicants, students, course enrollments, academic programs, and other student outcomes
Build data connectivity, analysis, and automation capacities across the student service offices
Enhance technological solutions to optimize complex administrative processes
Monitor student satisfaction with services through surveys and ongoing performance feedback
Identify and implement improvements in policies, processes and systems
Ensure adherence to federal regulations
Continue working with degree program marketing and recruitment team on strategic communications plan
Develop and manage the student service budget and proactively identify staffing needs across the student service offices
